Bill Staton

Bill Staton (8 May 1858-18 June 1880) was an American farmer who lived on the West Virginia-Kentucky border at the time of the Hatfield-McCoy feud. Born in Sandy River, Logan, West Virginia in 1858, he was related to both the Hatfield and McCoy families. In 1878, his testimony in favor of Floyd Hatfield at Hatfield and Randolph McCoy's court case over a hog led to Sam and Paris McCoy murdering him in Pike County, Kentucky in 1880.
