Bill Newton Dunn

Bill Newton Dunn (born 3 October 1941) was the Conservative Party MEP for Lincolnshire from 1979 to 1994 and the Lib Dem MEP for East Midlands from 1999 to 2014 and from 2019; he was also elected to the Richmond London Borough Council in 2018.

Biography[]

Bill Newton Dunn was born in Greywell, Hampshire, England on 3 October 1941, and he worked in industry from 1963 to 1979. In 1974, he ran for Parliament as a Conservative Party candidate for Carmarthen, but he was defeated. He went on to serve as the Conservative MEP for Lincolnshire from 1979 to 1994 and for East Midlands from 1999 to 2014 and from 2019, switching his party affiliation to the Liberal Democrats in 2000. In 2018, he was elected to the Richmond London Borough Council as the Lib Dem councillor for South Richmond.
