Bikram Singh

Bikram Singh () was Chief of Staff of the Indian Army from 2012 to 2014, succeeding Vijay Kumar Singh and preceding Dalbir Singh.

Biography[]

Bikram Singh was originally an aspiring doctor, but he joined the Indian Army and was commissioned into the Sikh Light Infantry in 1972. Singh served as the official spokesperson for the military during the Kargil War in 1999, and he served as a Brigadier of the Indian Army in Jammu and Kashmir, where he was wounded by Kashmiri insurgents. Singh also led the Indian 10th Infantry Division during India's involvement in the United Nations peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and from 2012 to 2014 he served as the Chief of Staff of the Indian Army. He retired on 31 July 2014, and Dalbir Singh succeeded him.
