The Beylik of Yerevan (1045-1080) was a short-lived beylik that was a part of the Seljuk Empire. It was conquered from the Bagratid Armenia by the Seljuk Empire of Muslim Turks in 1045, and Yerevan became a part of the Seljuk domains. In 1080, Bey Selim al Rashid supported Jalal ad-Dawlah in reunifying the Seljuk Empire in Asia Minor, and became a vassal of the Sultanate of Rum.

History[]

In 1045, the Seljuk Empire conquered Bagratid Armenia and overran the town of Yerevan, which became a region under their control. The beys of the Al Rashid family ruled the town, and Bey Selim al Rashid was one of the first warlords to publicly support Jalal ad-Dawlah in his bid to reunify the splintered Seljuk lands in Asia Minor and the Near East-Levantine coastline. Yerevan became a part of the Sultanate of Rum in 1080, after ad-Dawlah proclaimed himself Sultan from the city of Iconium.
