Bernart Aveline (1546-December 1600) was a French colonial administrator during the 17th century. He served as Mayor of Nouveau Paris before being appointed Governor of the Florida Keys, where he planned to oversee great economic growth. However, while setting sail aboard the 20-gun sloop La Sabre Affame, he was attacked by the Dutch privateer Jan Alen, who had just visited him in Nouveau Paris. Alen killed Aveline and the crew in a quick naval battle and then plundered the ship.
