Bernard Dantès (died 1815) was a French sailor and the father of Edmond Dantès. In 1815, his son was arrested by gendarmes while celebrating his recent promotion to captain of the Pharaon with his father and his fiancée Mercédès Iguanada, and, on hearing that his son was convicted of murder, the elder Dantès hanged himself in shame.
