Berdi Beg (1310-1359) was Khan of the Golden Horde from 1357 to 1359, succeeding Jani Beg and preceding Qulpa. A son of Jani Beg, he served as viceroy of Tabriz before inheriting his father's throne in 1357. He executed 12 of his closest kinsmen, including his 8-month-old brother, to consolidate power. He allowed the Chupanids to return to rule in Azerbaijan and allowed the Venetians to trade in his empire, and he was also generous towards the Russian Orthodox clergy. His death and the elimination of his kinsmen ended the line of Batu Khan.
