Bercy 2022

Bercy is a neighborhood in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, France, located in the city's northeast. It was first mentioned in the 12th century, and it belonged to the Montmorency family during the Middle Ages. During the 18th century, it became a warehouse district which stored wine. It became the thriving center of Paris' wine trade, and it was a commune before it was annexed by Paris in 1860. During World War II, the German Wehrmacht used the riverfront warehouses to store their chemical weapons and nerve gas, but the German base was destroyed by the French Resistance fighter Sean Devlin in 1944 during the Battle of Bercy.
