Berar was a region of central India. Its capital was Nagpur.

Berar made its finacne from the tea trade, and had a population of 2,110,311 people: 58.2% Hindu and 41.8% Islamic. By 1750, under the care of the ruling Maratha Confederacy, it grew to a population of 3,372,635 people, including a religious dispersion of 51.4% Hindu and 48.6% Islam.
