Beonna of Doneceaster

Beonna of Doneceaster (852-880) was an Anglo-Saxon nobleman who led an anti-Danish rebellion in Doncaster, Yorkshire in 880. In the absence of King Guthred's Northumbrian armies, Beonna claimed Doncaster without resistance, but a Mercian army was soon sent north to capture Doncaster for the Mercian realm, and Beonna was killed and his rebel army destroyed during Mercia's capture of the city.
