
Bensalem Township is a township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, bordering northeastern Philadelphia. The township was founded in 1692, and it was known as Salem until 1701, when it was renamed to Bensalem ("son of peace") in honor of William Penn. In 2016, Bensalem had a population of 60,329 people, with 72.1% being white, 10.2% Asian, 8.4% Hispanic, 7.3% African-American, 2.6% multiracial, and .5% Native American.
