Benny (1957-1980) was a Brazilian drug dealer and the right-hand man of Ze Pequeno in the Cidade de Deus favela of Rio de Janeiro. Though Ze was a sociopathic murderer who sought to solve his problems with violence, Benny kept Ze in check, being a very affable man. Benny was known as the "coolest" person in the favela, and was beloved by all.

However, in 1980, Benny was convinced by his "groovie" (hippie) girlfriend, Angelica, to retire from a life of crime and start a farm elsewhere in Brazil. Sadly, during the farewell party, in an argument with Ze, Benny was accidentally shot and killed by Blacky, who was trying to assassinate Ze. This caused Ze to begin a massive war with Carrot, whom Blacky worked for and Benny protected, and to sink further into depravity until his own death.
