Benning Wentworth Jenness (14 July 1806 – 16 November 1879) was a US Senator from New Hampshire (D) from 1 December 1845 to 13 June 1846, succeeding Levi Woodbury and preceding Joseph Cilley.

Biography[]

Benning Wentworth Jenness was born in Deerfield, New Hampshire in 1806, and he engaged in mercantile pursuits from 1826 to 1856. From 1841 to 1845, he was judge probate of Strafford County, and he went on to serve as a US Senator from 1845 to 1846. He took part in the 1850 constitutional convention, but he withdrew from the gubernatorial race in 1861, and he died in 1879.
