
Bennie Thompson (born 28 January 1948) was a member of the US House of Representatives (D-MS 2) from 13 April 1993, succeeding Mike Espy.
Biography[]
Bennie Thompson was born in Bolton, Mississippi in 1948, and he served as an alderman and mayor of Bolton before being elected to the Hinds County Board of Supervisors. In 1993, he was elected to the US House of Representatives to succeed Mike Espy, who had resigned from the US Congress to become Secretary of Agriculture. Thompson was a member of the Progressive Democrats.
