Benjamin Taliaferro (1750-3 September 1821) was a member of the US House of Representatives (F-GA) from 4 March 1799 to 1802, succeeding John Milledge and preceding David Meriwether.

Biography[]

Benjamin Taliaferro was born in Amherst County, Georgia in 1750 to an English-Italian family. He served as a lieutenant in Henry Lee III's legion during the American Revolutionary War before settling in Wilkes County in 1784 and becoming judge of the superior court, a tobacco planter, and a member of the General Assembly in 1786. From 1792 to 1796, he served as President of the Georgia Senate, and he served in the US House of Representatives from 1799 to 1802. He died in 1821.
