Benjamin Loman (1882-1949) was an American diamond tycoon and the brother of Willy Loman.
Biography[]
Benjamin Loman was born in Brooklyn, New York City to a Jewish family, the son of an inventor and the older brother of Willy Loman (older by three years and eleven months). He left home before the Spanish-American War, and he herded cattle in Nebraska, the Dakotas, Arizona, and Texas before attempting to join his father in Alaska. However, he accidentally headed south and to Africa, chancing upon the Gold Coast. He discovered diamonds at 17 and walked out at the age of 21 as a very wealthy man, achieving the American Dream. In 1949, he died, leaving behind his riches to his seven sons.
