
Benjamin Franklin Conley (1 March 1815-10 January 1886) was the Republican Governor of Georgia from 30 October 1871 to 12 January 1872, succeeding Rufus Bullock and preceding James Milton Smith.
Biography[]
Benjamin Franklin Conley was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1815, and he was raised in Savannah, Georgia. He served as Mayor of Augusta from 1857 to 1859 and as acting Governor of Georgia from 1871 to 1872; he was the last Republican governor of Georgia until Sonny Perdue in 2002.
