Bengalis are an Indian ethnic group native to the region of Bengal, which is divided into the country of Bangladesh and the Indian region of West Bengal. There are 300,000,000 Bengalis in the world, with 58% being Muslim, 41% being Hindu, and 1% being Buddhist, Bahai, Christian, atheist, and other religions. Dhaka and Kolkata (Calcutta), two of the largest mega-cities in the world, are inhabited mostly by Bengalis.
