
Benedict Maiden (1746-17 January 1781) was a corporal of the British Army during the American Revolutionary War.
Biography[]
Benedict Maiden was born in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, Great Britain in 1746. He was commissioned into the British Army dragoons in 1764, and his regiment was sent to the Thirteen Colonies during the American Revolutionary War, serving under Banastre Tarleton. In January 1781, while serving as a corporal in his regiment, he was killed in action while fighting against the Continental Army colonel Samuel Bennett's dragoon regiment at the Battle of Cowpens.
