Ben Sasse

Benjamin Eric "Ben" Sasse (born 22 February 1972) was a member of the US Senate from Nebraska (R) from 3 January 2015 to 8 January 2023, succeeding Mike Johanns and preceding Pete Ricketts.

Biography[]

Benjamin Eric Sasse was born in Plainview, Nebraska on 22 February 1972, and he earned a doctorate in American History from Yale University. He taught at the University of Texas and served as an assistant secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services. In 2010, he became President of Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, and he was elected to the US Senate in 2015, filling the Senate seat vacated by Mike Johanns. Sasse was a member of the Republican Party and the Tea Party movement, and he supported pro-gun legislation and the repeal of Obamacare. He resigned in 2023 to serve as President of the University of Florida.
