Belgian Limburg is a province in the Flanders region of northern Belgium. With its capital at Hasselt, Limburg is the easternmost of the five Dutch-speaking provinces of Belgium, and it is located to the west of the Maas River, bordering Dutch Limburg across the river. The principal settlements in Limburg are Hasselt, Borgloon, Genk, Diepenbeek, and Tongeren, the oldest city of Belgium. In 2016, Limburg had a population of 863,425 people.
