Beda of London (born 825) was a Mercian priest from London who lived in the late 9th century.
Biography[]
Beda was of Anglo-Saxon origin from London, Mercia, but he lived most of his life in Winchester, Wessex. He joined the Catholic Church as a young boy, eventually becoming a priest, and he served for some years at the court of King Aethelbert of Wessex before heading to Dommoc in East Anglia. The Vikings invaded in 867, and the kingdom ceased to be safe for men of faith, forcing Beda to relocate to London.
