
Beaton Tulk (22 May 1944 – 23 May 2019) was Premier of Newfoundland from 16 October 2000 to 13 February 2001, succeeding Brian Tobin and preceding Roger Grimes.
Biography[]
Beaton Tulk was born in Ladle Cove, Newfoundland in 1944, and he was a school principal in Carmanville from 1974 to 1979. That year, he was elected to the Newfoundland House of Assembly as a Liberal Party of Canada MHA, serving until 2002. In 2000, he was elected Deputy Premier, and he served as Premier from 2000 to 2001 after Premier Brian Tobin returned to federal politics. He resigned his provincial seat in 2002 in an unsuccessful attempt to run for the House of Commons, and he failed to return to provincial politics. He died of prostate cancer in 2019 at the age of 75.
