Flag of Bayonne

Bayonne is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey. The city was formed as a township in 1861, and it was named for the city of Bayonne in France, from which the Huguenots settled for a year before the founding of New Amsterdam. Bayonne was a port city as well as an industrial city, similar to nearby Elizabeth; the city is connected to Staten Island by bridge. Manufacturing, distribution, and maritime activities are the main sources of Bayonne's diminishing economy, with the Port Newark-Elizabeth Marine Terminal being partially located in Bayonne. Bayonne's gangs included the Trinitarios at the 3rd Street projects and along Broadway, the G-Shine Bloods in Constable Hook and near Russell Golding Park, the 1-8 Oreos in Constable Hook, and the Sex Money Murder and Mob Piru Blooods at Woodrow Wilson School #10. In 2016, Bayonne had a population of 66,238 people.
