The Battle of the Elysees Theatre occurred in late 1940 during World War II. The French Resistance succeeded in destroying a German siege gun atop the Elysees Theatre, inspiring the people of Trocadero to rise up against Nazi occupation.
French Resistance leader Luc Gaudin had sent a team of men under a fighter called Renard to blow up the siege gun, but Renard was captured by the Germans while in possession of bomb detonators. The new German Chief of Public Security, Kurt Dierker, had Renard skinned, and he brutally murdered the other fighters. As a result, Devlin was contacted about the situation by Gaudin, and Devlin volunteered to finish their job. He discovered from Yosef Bryman that the siege gun was preparing to fire on a countryside safehouse where several women and children were being hidden from the Gestapo, so he made haste to destroy it. Devlin climbed the rooftops and made his way closer to the gun, and he engaged in a shootout with other German soldiers on the rooftops, as well as the soldiers on the gun platform. After killing the gun's engineer, Kaspar Ahle, he planted explosive charges on the gun. The ensuing explosion brought down the upper face of the building along with the siege gun, and, as the people of the Trocadero district of Paris were no longer frightened by the powerful weapon, they were inspired to rise up against the German occupation.
