The Battle of el-Daba occurred on 6 November 1942 when the British 7th Armored Division was sent to liberate the town of el-Daba in northern Egypt from retreating elements of the Afrika Korps. Just a few miles west of El Alamein, a contingent of German troops were trapped at el-Daba on the Mediterranean coast, and the 7th Armored Division was given the task of driving the Germans out. The British drove into town with several trucks and armored vehicles, and the British cleared the town of German resistance after heavy resistance, also shooting down several Luftwaffe planes with a captured German anti-aircraft gun and signalling for Royal Navy warships to sink several German supply ships in the harbor. The battle was a part of the counterattack after the Second Battle of El Alamein, and the Germans were forced out Egypt soon after.
