The Battle of al-Khusus was a battle fought between the Egyptian general Paseny and an invading army of Shekelesh "Sea People" in 1198 BC.
In 1198 BC, several fleets of Shekelesh raiders arrived in the Nile Delta, intent on ravaging New Kingdom Egypt as it was embroiled in a civil war. One of these fleets, led by Metus, threatened the Egyptian city of Iunu (Heliopolis), prompting the Egyptian general Paseny to pursue him and engage him near present-day al-Khusus in the Nile Delta. In the ensuing battle, the two armies battled at a shallow ford of the Nile, and the Egyptians utilized flanking tactics to annihilate their enemy. Paseny gave chase to the remnants of the Shekelesh force, wiping out Nufrzna's 276 survivors with 84 losses. The Shekelesh fleet was destroyed, helping to save the Nile Delta from desolation.
