The Battle of Yershova Street was a battle of the Donbass War which was fought on 27 January 2022 between the Ukrainian military and the Donetsk People's Republic separatists at Yershova Street in Donetsk, Donetsk Oblast. The Ukrainian Ground Forces violated the ceasefire by sending forth a main battle tank and several infantry, intending on punishing recent separatist ceasefire violations. The separatists retaliated in kind, and, while the Ukrainian forces initially made great progress, separatist artillery fire destroyed the Ukrainian tank and briefly stemmed the tide of the Ukrainian advance. Ultimately, the Ukrainians were able to use their own artillery to destroy three separatist tanks, and they called forth another tank to break the stalemate as the Ukrainian ground troops made great progress in pushing back the separatists. The second Ukrainian tank was destroyed just before taking the separatist position, and the Ukrainian ground troops saw the objective through, destroying the separatists' mobile headquarters and claiming the block for Ukraine. Unfortunately, 396 civilians were killed, 65 by gunshot, 167 by mortar fire, 147 by unguided rocket, and 17 by starvation.
