The Battle of Pallasgreen was fought between a gang of Irish brigands and the Irish Confederate irregular force of Seamus Hennessey on 14 October 1642 during the Irish Confederate Wars.
After his near-disastrous defeat at the Battle of Bawndaw, Hennessey traveled throughout Ireland to rebuild his party, even venturing into Royalist-controlled County Kildare to recruit adventurers. As his recruitment drive took him into County Limerick, however, Hennessey was ambushed by a free company of Hibernian swordsmen at Pallasgreen. In the ensuing battle, the well-armored and equipped Hibernian swordsmen inflicted heavy losses on Hennessey's raw recruits before the brigands were surrounded and massacred.
