The Battle of Objective XYZ occurred on 6 June 1944 when two squads of paratroops from the US 101st Airborne Division assaulted a German barracks and routed its garrison.

Short of men after the mis-drops of Mission Albany, Sergeants Greg Hartsock and Matthew Baker alone had to clean up a Norman hamlet occupied by a company of German troops from the German 91st Infantry Division. The 101st Airborne forces ambushed the Germans as they had breakfast; on one occasion, Baker cleared out a dining room full of feasting Germans with a grenade, killing the soldiers as they sat to eat. The Americans then proceeded to assault the farmhouse that was being used by the Germans as a command post, with Privates Larry Allen and Michael Garnett using a Bazooka round to neutralize a German machine-gun position in the building. At that point, the soldiers inside of the house rushed out of the burning building, and around two dozen German soldiers attempted to assault the Americans. However, the Americans succeeded in killing or wounding all of them, and the Americans secured the area. Having succeeded in their objective, they proceeded to enter an Opel Blitz truck and head on to secure Foucarville.
