The Battle of Neerwinden (18 March 1793) was a battle of the French Revolutionary Wars in which the Austrian army of Josias of Saxe-Coburg defeated Charles Dumouriez's French Army of the North. The Austrians drove the French left wing off of the field after a series of failed assaults on the Austrian army, and General Dumouriez decided to withdraw his forces from the battle as more and more of the French volunteers deserted. The French suffered a major defeat, and the Austrians reconquered Flanders. Dumouriez would later plot against his own government, and he was removed from command.
