The Battle of Montparnasse occurred in 1944 when French Resistance fighter Sean Devlin stormed the stronghold of Captain Gunter Krist, head of military security in Paris' industrial sector, and assassinated him.
After the assassination of the French singer and Gestapo informant Francine Martin, her lover Krist - nicknamed "the Wolf" - responded by attempting to hunt down her murderer and ex-lover, French Resistance leader Duval Mingo. Mingo sent Devlin to punish Krist for his affair with Martin by assassinating him, and he had Devlin join forces with his best men as they assaulted Krist's base in Montparnasse. During the ensuing shootout, Devlin killed Krist with a sniper rifle, lifting the Nazis' control over Montparnasse and transforming the neighborhood into a base for the Resistance.
