The Battle of Lozy was fought on 26 October 1655 between the armies of Poland-Lithuania and Sweden during the Deluge.
Ratsherr Lennart Torstensson and his army descended on Berestye Fortress from Prussia, intending on capturing the Polish fort and threatening Warsaw. After Hetman Jan Sobieski and Cornet Zygmunt Słuszka's armies moved to intercept the Swedes, Torstensson was forced to withdraw deeper into Polish territory in the direction of Lublin. However, Jerzy Wisniewski and his Polish mercenary band joined the two Polish armies in attacking Torstensson's army southeast of Brest. In the ensuing battle, the Polish cavalry overwhelmed the Finnish harquebusiers, cuirassiers, and pikemen in the Swedish army, suffering relatively light casualties and destroying the Swedish force.
