The Battle of Lada Foundry occurred in 1695 when the pirate Captain Rija sacked Lada Foundry on Sumatra and destroyed several Dutch VOC warships in the process.
In search of steel ingot necessary to upgrade his ship Masina, Rija purchased some of the ingots from Lada Foundry before deciding to steal the rest of the settlement's stash for himself. He disembarked raider parties before captaining the Masina into battle with the many Dutch warships that responded to the settlement's distress call. The Masina sunk around 15 Dutch vessels, including larger ships, enabling the pirate raiders to burn Lada Foundry and steal its hoard of steel ingot for use in Singapore.
