The Battle of La Marqueza was fought between American-backed Kataris 26 rebels and the Santa Blanca Cartel in the mining town of La Marqueza, Bolivia in 2019.
Major Anthony Perryman and his Ghost Recon squad learned of union leader Esteban Chango's opposition to the cartel's control over Villa Verde Province, which created slavery-like conditions for local miners. Perryman and his unit came to La Marqueza to offer their support to Chango, who asked them to help clear the town of sicarios. Together with over a dozen rebels, the Americans fought a street-by-street battle to liberate La Marqueza, killing dozens of narcos in the process. The Americans proceeded to attack the cartel's illegal pyrolusite mine, clearing it of sicarios and shutting down the cartel's pyrolusite production.
