The Battle of Kilcreene was fought between a force of Irish tóraidhe brigands and an Irish Confederate army outside Kilkenny on 4 October 1642 amid the Irish Confederate Wars.

In early October 1642, Seamus Hennessey travelled across southern Ireland to raise additional recruits to his growing band of Irish Confederate irregulars. While marching past Kilkenny, the Confederate capital, he spotted a battle between tóraidhe outlaws and a foraging party of Confederates. Hennessey committed his troops to the battle and helped the foragers overcome the brigands, killing every last one of them.
