The Battle of Kastelo Singa occurred in 2010 when the CIA agent Rico Rodriguez rescued fellow agent Jade Tan from Panauan captivity at Kastelo Singa in the Berawan Besar Mountains amid the Panauan Civil War.
Kastelo Singa, or the "Lion's Castle," was utilized by President Panay as an interrogation center amid the civil war. After capturing CIA asset Karl Blaine and forcing him into becoming an informant, Panay was able to track down his lover, CIA agent Jade Tan, as she investigated China, Russia, and Japan's roles in the brewing conflict. CIA station chief Tom Sheldon sent Rico Rodriguez to cause enough chaos to generate leads about Tan's location before she could be tortured. They ultimately tracked her down to Kastelo Singa, and Sheldon provided Rodriguez with a Sivirkin 15 Havoc attack helicopter. Rodriguez used the helicopter to take out Kastelo Singa's SAM sites and other military infrastructure before landing, infiltrating the base's ventilation sites, and destroying the vents with C4 explosives. The military issued an evacuation order for the base, but, when Rodriguez headed to a bunker by the cliffside, he was ambushed by Panay's ninja bodyguards. Rodriguez killed all of them with his assault rifle, but this gave the army time to move Tan out of the base from the Kastelo Singa Hangar. As the convoy attempted to escape across the frozen lake, the U1 nuclear submarine rose through the ice and fired guided missiles at the base. Rodriguez was able to escape, hijack the vehicle in which Tan was held, and outrun the pursuing trucks and the submarine before he and Tan jumped into Sheldon's helicopter and escaped to the CIA base at Kampung Pokok Ru. There, Tan explained that Russia, China, and Japan had each sent advisors to the island's rebel groups, and Sheldon had Rodriguez work with the three factions until they would reveal the involvement of their advisors in their activities.
