The Battle of Kardamaina was the third phase of the Battle of Kos, occurring on 3 October 1943.

As German airborne forces captured the Italian strongpoints on Mount Dikeos and secured the town of Marmari, additional German forces were landed near Kardamaina. German armored vehicles were transported ashore to assist the 22nd Infantry Division in its advance on Kardamaina, and German armored cars raked Italian trenches with gunfire, spraying their soldiers and paving the way for an infantry advance. German dive-bombers and Italian planes attacked each other's armies, but it was ultimately Kardamaina that was flattened. German troops took control of the town after intense street fighting, and the Italians surrendered in droves.
