The Battle of Itacua Base occurred in 2019 when Major Anthony Perryman's team of four American Ghost Recon operatives raided the Santa Blanca Cartel's Itacua Base to steal Zapatero Gonzalez's sports car. The raid resulted in a massive shootout that claimed dozens of lives, while Perryman escaped with the car, helping lure Gonzalez and Gloria Fernandez back to the Itacua department.
Using intelligence gathered from a previous raid, Perryman learned that Gonzalez kept his sports car at Itacua Base, the base of operations for the Santa Blanca Cartel in the department. Perryman and his team inserted by helicopter and stormed the base, killing several sicarios. However, the cartel called in reinforcements, and La Unidad military police responded to the gun battle. In the ensuing three-way gunfight, the Americans were pinned down and soon had to take cover from a Bolivian attack helicopter. They were eventually able to escape as the cartel and police battled it out, and the theft of his car attracted Gonzalez back to Itacua.
