The Battle of Gunung Gila Pangkat occurred in 2010 when the communist Reapers paramilitary seized control of the Panauan Army research facility at Gunung Gila Pangkat amid the Panauan Civil War.
Hoping to acquire the government's research on how to make jet and rocket fuel function in cold temperatures, Reapers leader Bolo Santosi sent the mercenary Rico Rodriguez to lead a squad of Reapers in taking over the Gunung Gila Pangkat facility in the Berawan Besar Mountains. Rodriguez opened the facility's gates to the attackers and helped them progress into the base, destroying fuel depots and other military infrastructure along the way. He ultimately manned a minigun to help fight off a government counterattack and killed the stronghold commander, securing the base for the rebels and proving himself to Santosi.
