The Battle of Dreieich was fought in 1757 between the armies of France and Britain during the Seven Years' War.
Victor-Francois de Broglie's French division was intercepted by a British-German brigade as it marched past the fortress of Frankfurt am Main, resulting in a confrontation. The British army, which included Highlanders and Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel muskeeters among its number, was flanked by French cavalry, whose charges enabled the French infantry to close in on the flanks. The French cavalry suffered massive losses to the Hessian cavalry, but the Anglo-German army was ultimately routed with heavy losses.
