The Battle of Dooradoyle was fought between the Irish Confederates of Limerick and an Anglo-Irish Parliamentarian force on 21 September 1642 amid the Irish Confederate Wars.

In September 1642, the Irish guerrilla leader Seamus Hennessey assembled a growing band of Catholic peasants who took up arms to expel Parliamentary forces from southern Ireland. One of the patrols he chased, commanded by Godsgift Cockayne, retreated north from County Cork into the outskirts of Limerick, where they were attacked by the Confederate general Garret Barry. Hennessey's 33-strong party joined forces with the Limerick garrison to attack the smaller Parliamentarian force, which, despite being mounted, stood little chance against both the Irish dragoons and their pike-wielding soldiers. The Parliamentarian force was wiped out, ingratiating Hennessey with Barry.
