The Battle of Chuparosa was fought between the Mexican Army under the command of Vincente de Santa and the Revolutionary Army led by Abraham Reyes. After finding out of John's betrayal of the Mexican Government, Colonel Agustin Allende sent Captain Vincente de Santa, his right-hand man to capture and execute John Marston. He succeeded in capturing John and was close to executing him until Reyes came to the rescue and was able to save Marston from his own execution and eventually cut him free. The population of Chuparosa then rebelled against De Santa's men and took down the entire garrison, eventually liberating Chuparosa from government control and successfully pushing out the majority of the Mexican Army out of Perdido County and spreading the revolution elsewhere.
Captain De Santa was able to escape the onslaught but was later captured by Marston who then killed him after finding out of Javier Escuella's location.
