The Battle of Cayman Sound was a naval battle fought between the pirate ship Jackdaw and the British Royal Navy off Cayman Sound, Cayman Islands in 1722 during the Golden Age of Piracy.
Captain Edward Kenway, having docked on Grand Cayman after destroying three British men o' war, proceeded to sail around the Cayman Islands and intended on exploring Cayman Sound as well. On encountering Cayman Sound, however, Kenway found that it was under guard by the frigate HMS Dove and two gunboats. Kenway led the Jackdaw into battle, easily destroying the two gunboats with a single broadside, before immobilizing and boarding the Dove. His pirates easily overran the British crew and forced them to surrender, clearing the way for Kenway to disembark and explore Cayman Sound.
