The Battle of Beit Hanoun was a battle of the Sukkot War that was fought between the Israel Defense Forces and the Palestinian militant group Hamas on 27 October 2023 as Israel launched a major ground offensive into the Gaza Strip.

On the night of 27 October 2023, twenty days after Hamas launched its "al-Aqsa Flood" surprise attack on southern Israel and killed 1,400 Jewish civilians and soldiers in the deadliest anti-Semitic attack since the Holocaust, the IDF launched a major ground offensive against Gaza. The Israeli Air Force leveled Beit Hanoun in the days leading up to its ground invasion, transforming it into what many journalists described as a "moonscape" due to its desolation. After disabling Gaza's telecommunications network with targeted airstrikes, the IDF moved into Gaza, and Hamas' Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades reported that it was fighting Israeli forces in Beit Hanoun in northern Gaza and Bureij in the center. Heavy clashes and anti-tank fire were reported as the Israeli offensive began. Hamas official Osama Hamdan claimed that the Qassam Brigades foiled the Israeli incursion into Beit Hanoun and Bureij and that Israel was attempting "to create an image of victory."

By 29 October 2023, Israeli troops had advanced over two miles into Gaza, with soldiers of the IDF's 52nd Battalion, 401st Brigade being filmed waving the Israeli flag atop a resort hotel in the heart of Gaza, along the beach. At the same time, Israeli aircraft, guided by IDF troops, struck Hamas military structures, some of which contained Hamas terrorists, and anti-tank missile launching posts, observation posts, and military infrastructure were struck. That same day, Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi warned that Israel had "crossed the red lines" in Gaza, which "may force everyone to take action."

On 30 October, IDF tanks blocked access to the Salah ad-Din Road running down the middle of the Gaza Strip, firing on civilian vehicles. By then, news outlets such as al-Jazeera suggested that the Israeli invasion of the northern Gaza Strip was merely the first wave, preceding a much larger ground offensive to clear the rest of Gaza of Hamas militants. On 1 November, Hamas claimed to have destroyed four Israeli military vehicles with anti-armor shells in Beit Hanoun as the Israeli offensive was stalled by heavy resistance. By 4 November, the IDF was clashing with Hamas forces in Beit Hanoun's main al-Karameh Street, with Hamas militants maneuvering through tunnel systems and attacking IDF forces with various weapons. On 5 November, Israel struck the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Hanoun from the air.

By 12 November, the IDF Harel Brigade had advanced beyond Beit Hanoun and was engaging Palestinian militia fighters near Abraj al-Awda and north of Jabaliya. The IDF claimed to have destroyed Hamas military infrastructure, including tunnels, rocket, and anti-tank missile launch sites, and observation posts. Hamas fighters continued to attack the IDF in Beit Hanoun behind the IDF's forward line of advance, while the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades detonated an IED targeting IDF forces sheltering in a house in Beit Hanoun. By 13 November, it was reported that the IDF was overseeing clearing operations in Beit Hanoun, while reservists raided the home of a senior PIJ member in Beit Hanoun and found a tunnel shaft.

By 18 December, Israel had full control over Beit Hanoun and had destroyed Hamas' local battalion, but Israel was forced to shift to holding operations wihtin the area as Hamas launched drive-by attacks and ambushes. On 24 December, Israeli forces withdrew from Beit Hanoun amidst heavy fighting with militants; however, the IDF continued to shell the city. All structures were destroyed, leaving the city effectively razed to the ground.
