The Battle of Baracoa was a naval battle which was fought between the pirate ship Jackdaw and a Spanish Navy squadron off the eastern coast of Cuba in 1722 during the Golden Age of Piracy.
The pirate captain Edward Kenway, captain of the Jackdaw, sighted the Spanish frigate Falcon Blanco Mayor and its schooner escort, the Santa Lucia, off Punta de Maisi at the easternmost tip of Cuba, compelling him to sail into battle. He intercepted the ships between Cuba and Great Inagua, and he immobilized both ships before first boarding the Falcon Blanco Mayor, the larger of the two Spanish ships. The crew surrendered after Kenway cut down the ship's colors, and Kenway looted 80 barrels of rum and 25 bags of sugar. He then boarded and captured the Santa Lucia, which carried 50 cloth and 20 barrels of rum. After taking these two prizes, he noticed the frigate Triunfo and the schooner Santa Gertrudis in the distance, and he proceeded to board and plunder those ships as well. Kenway then sunk the gunboat Dorada with a broadside, and he briefly attempted to pursue the schooner Tigre, which was sunk by the fort of Punta Guarico, whose cannons were manned by pirates. With the Spanish squadron sent to Davy Jones' Locker, Kenway sailed off in triumph.
