Battery Park

Battery Park is a public park on the southern tip of Manhattan island in New York City, named for the colonial-era batteries that had been installed to defend the harbor. Starting in 1855, the party was created by land reclamation, and skyscrapers took over the natural parts of the park as the park itself was built on man-made land. The park is currently 25 acres large, and it includes a 9/11 memorial in the form of an "eternal flame" and a sphere.
