
Basit Ahmed Dar (12 April 2002-7 May 2024) was a Kashmiri separatist militant commander who served as Chief Operational Commander of The Resistance Front from August 2021 to May 2024, succeeding Muhammad Abbas Sheikh.
Biography[]
Basit Ahmed Dar was born in Redwani Payeen, Jammu and Kashmir, India in 2002. Basit Dar participated in the 2016 unrest following the Indian government's killing of Burhan Wani, and he joined the Resistance Front (TRF) in 2021 following his father's death. After the assassination of TRF commander Muhammad Abbas Sheikh, he took over as Chief Operational Commander, and he became one of the most wanted militants in the Kashmir Valley. He was killed in a shootout with Indian security forces in the Kulgam district in 2024.
