Basil al-Kubaissi

Basil Raoud al-Kubaissi (died 6 April 1973), also known as Bassel Rauf Kubeisy, was a Professor of International Law at the American University of Beirut and was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) terrorist group, coordinating logistics for the PFLP. He was assassinated in Operation Wrath of God by Israel.

Biography[]

Basil al-Kubaissi taught law as Professor of International Law at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, and was also a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) Marxist-Leninist Palestinian terrorist group, for which he coordinated logistics. In the aftermath of the 1972 Munich Massacre, Professor al-Kubaisi was named as one of the perpetrators of the event and a member of the Black September Organization. Mossad hunted him down at Golda Meir's behest during Operation Wrath of God. On 6 April 1973, al-Kubaissi was assassinated on a street in Paris, France by two Mossad agents, who shot him 11 times with Beretta .22 caliber pistols, killing him.
