Biography[]

Baruch Goldstein was born on 9 December 1956 in Brooklyn, New York City, United States, and he was a childhood acquaintance with Meir Kahane, and he also joined the Jewish Defense League. In 1983, he immigrated to Israel and served as a physician in the Israel Defense Forces. He believed that it was against Jewish law to treat Arabs, even for money, and he refused to care for all wounded Arabs - be they civilians or even Arab soldiers in the IDF. Goldstein compared Israel's democracy to Nazism and wore a "Jude" star on his clothing in protest, and he joined the far-right Kach movement. On 25 February 1994, Goldstein used a Galil to kill 29 Muslim worshippers and wound 125 at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, West Bank, and survivors beat him to death. In response to the massacre, Israel, which had already banned the Kahanist Kach party, began arresting some of Kahane's followers.
